The first thing you must decide is how you want to resell the email marketing services. There are several business models available so you must find a partner that offers the service level that will work best for your business.
Reseller Model: In a typical reseller model, you pay the ESP a fee to have them rebrand the front end of their product to include your logo and corporate identity features, to set up domain aliases for your use, and to remove all traces of their company and replace it with your company’s name. They will also train you on how to sell and support the product. After that, you are responsible for selling and setting up customer accounts to your clients. The Listrak reseller model was designed for easy integration. Listrak hosts the service for the reseller and its customers; however, all traces of the Listrak brand has been replaced with the brand of the reseller. Listrak charges the reseller a discounted monthly hosting fee for each account it sets up and the reseller decides how much to charge for its monthly services and annual support fees.
Agency Model: The agency model is the most popular private label edition. This service level is similar to the reseller model as the ESP charges a fee for rebranding the site. However, the agency does not become a full service reseller. It simply sets up its own account and sends emails out on behalf of their customers through their one account. Some agencies allow their customers to log in to view the tracking reports of each campaign, and some provide reports as a value added service. Integration Models: The integration model is a way to implement email marketing directly into your products and applications. Many direct mail companies choose this model as it allows them to build campaigns and then choose to either print or email the creative piece. The resellers typically pays the ESP to build the interface into their products and the email marketing option is offered as another button or drop down menu choice. Like the other two editions, all traces of the ESP are removed from the product and it is branded to look like the reseller.
