Lititz, PA – August 6, 2014 – Today, in releasing the results of The 2014 Email Integrity Audit, the Online Trust Alliance (OTA) announced that Listrak has been named to the 2014 Email Integrity Honor Roll. The recognition follows Listrak being named to the OTA Online Trust Honor Roll in June for the second consecutive year.
OTA conducted the Email Integrity Audit, which evaluated more than 800 companies’ adoption of Sender Policy Framework (SPF), DomainKeys Identified Mail (DKIM) and Domain-based Message Authentication Reporting and Conformance (DMARC). Companies that have adopted both SPF and DKIM at their corporate or top level domain and have a DMARC record published are listed as leaders in email security and brand protection.
According to OTA Executive Director Craig Spiezle, the email integrity audit focuses on brand protection, and therefore companies that have adopted SPF or DKIM at their marketing sub-domains but not their top level domain did not make the grade. Of the more than 800 companies and brands evaluated, approximately 12% passed, including nearly 60% of OTA members. Listrak is an OTA member, and Listrak Chief Privacy Officer James Koons is on the OTA Board of Directors.
Koons comments, “Email is a valuable business communication tool and steps should be taken to properly secure it. Bad actors are constantly employing phishing and spear-phishing attacks in an attempt to trick employees, partners and customers into revealing personal and financial information. When properly implemented, SPF, DKIM and DMARC can go a long way to secure your email. These forms of authentication not only confirm the real sender of an email, they are an important email deliverability best practice and allow for the detection of phishing, spoofing and spam emails.”
